A George Vth 1854 pattern Scots Guards officer's sword, by W. Carter & Co Ltd, 56 Pall Mall SW. The blade is etched and polished with the crowned Royal cypher, the regimental badge, and battle honours from Namur 1695 to Modder River. The plated regulation guard has the regimental badge, and the grip is covered with black fishskin bound with twisted nickel wire. The hilt is fitted with its leather dress knot, and the sword retains its field service leather scabbard and plated dress scabbard.
