A good Hungarian/Transylvanian brass mounted stag horn powder flask
A good Hungarian/Transylvanian brass mounted stag horn powder flask, probably late 18th or early 19th century. The front of the body is engraved with geometric ornament, en suite with the staghorn nozzle and closing catch. The sheet brass mounts are incised with geometric ornament, those covering the lower limbs are secured by German silver studs whilst the upper band is secured by the eyes which hold the heavy brass hanging rings. The front is applied with a brass cross pattee (Tatzenkreutz) surrounded by brass and German silver studs. Good age patina and colour.
