A fine Battak bullet horn from Sumatra
A fine Battak bullet horn from Sumatra, polished horn body carved as a stylised man’s face, hooked chin, elongated nose, protruding top teeth and S shaped ears. Incised decoration to top with original woven “coiffure”. Elongated sprung horn jaws retain the lead balls that is was made to contain. Late 18th or early 19th century.
