A silver mounted 26 bore Ottoman flintlock holster pistol

A silver mounted 26 bore Ottoman flintlock holster pistol dated 1867. The half octagonal etched Damascus twist barrel is deeply struck with the maker’s cartouche and another inscribed Imtihan (=tested or proved) and decorated overall with thick silver inlay including ashort inscription. The export lock is stamped London with foliage and scene. The silver furniture is engraved and struck with 4 hallmarks dated (12)84 AH=AD 1867, and includes a trigger guard with large acorn finial, and a buttcap with star and crescent chiselled on the boss. The stock is inlaid with scrolling silver wire (a few strands missing), silver stars and escutcheon. The stel ramrod is of later date.
