An unusual scrimshaw engraved cow horn powder flask from New Zealand, c 1850. The engraving shows 2 Maori figures one of whom wears a feather cape and carries a patu (meri); also a naked child seated on a feather cape feeding a sheep, all within foliate borders. Having a wooden base plug and wooden stopper with horn top. Nice age patina overall.
