A fine lacquered horn powder flask
A fine lacquered horn powder flask from the Chin / Arakan Hills area of the Indo-Burmese border, early to mid 19th century. Lacquered in red and black with zinc lattice decoration and brass mounts, carved wooden nozzle and end cap which presumably doubles as a powder measure. An old label attached to the nozzle inscribed “Birdwood”. See footnote to item No 269 for details of Birdwood.
