Description:
Agood russet gilt hilted small-sword by Hawes c 1750. The hilt chiselled with extensive trophies of arms in relief against a gold foil ground, partly engraved and partly stamped. The grip bound with silver wire, and with woven turk’s heads. The colichemarde blade with etched rococo ornament. In its vellum covered scabbard (damaged), the locket and hanging band en-suite with the hilt, the chape later, the locket with pricked inscription “HAWES-Bond Street”.
