An unusually elaborate pair of flintlock holster pistols by Frederick Barnes and Company, second quarter of the 19th Century. Heavy octagonal browned twist barrels engraved London, open sights, patent breeches inlaid with nickel lines, platinum lined vents. Figured walnut halfstocks inlaid with silver wire and leaf shaped plates. The locks are signed F. Barnes & Co, and are foliate engraved, rainproof pans, roller bearing frizzen springs. White metal furniture including buttcaps, each with a bulls’s head in high relief. Ebony ramrod with white metal mounts and steel worms.
