A scarce pair of American percussion duelling pistols
A scarce pair of American percussion duelling pistols by Griffiths, mid 19th Century. The 16 bore heavy octagonal Damascus twist browned barrels are cut with deep 8 groove rifling, and inlaid with twin platinum breech lines. The patent breeches are fitted with elevating screws and long tangs. The back action signed locks are fitted with the full cock position only, and are profusely engraved with foliage en-suite with the steel trigger guards and nickel furniture. The set triggers have adjustment screws, the figured walnut stocks have rounded chequered grips, and the escutcheons are now stamped Ed. Flaig No 1 & 2 respectively.
