Description:
A Sumatran or Javanese dagger Badek c 1850. The single edged blade forged from meteoric iron in a distinctive pattern, deeply etched with a whorl at the forte and pellets along the back edge. The hilt and sheath mounts of hippopotamus ivory of good colour, the sheath of figured wood. See A.G. van Zonneveld “Traditional Weapons of the Indonesian Archipelago” Leiden 2001 p 27 for similar.
