An English hunting hanger
An English hunting hanger, late 17th Century. The blade slightly curved, the brass stirrup hilt cast with stylised figures and faces with moustaches, the tall pommel surmounted by the head of a putto. The grip formed from a natural stag horn. See H.L. Blackmore “Hunting Weapons” London 1971.
