A charming silver mounted carved horn powder flask, N Europe possibly Sweden, early 18th Century. The front of the flask carved at the top with a vacant oval cartouche surmounted by a crown and flanked by various flowers, and at the bottom with pair of naked figures above a bear flanked by fabulous beasts. The back is carved with a female angel leaning on a column and with a lion behind, and at the bottom with a monk becoming familiar with a lady, closely observed by an ass (donkey). Turned silver spout, engraved silver base plate, iron suspension loop and wooden base. Good patina overall.
