A large South Indian dagger Katar from the Tanjore Armoury
A large South Indian dagger Katar from the Tanjore Armoury, 17th century, broad blade with thickened tip, blade mount chiselled with flowers and foliage. Slightly dish shaped “guard”, relieved beaded edges throughout, fluted grip bars with pierced foliate chiselled supports. Traces of gilt silver foil damascened overall.
