A Georgian infantry officer’s sword spadroon
A Georgian infantry officer’s sword spadroon, late 18th century. The straight single edged blade cut with a single fuller and etched with the Royal Arms (pre 1801), trophies of arms, and floral devices, the back edge etched J.J. Runkel Solingen. The hilt of gilt brass and retains most of its original gilding, single side loop to guard, the knucklebow with a ring for the dress knot, cushion shaped pommel, reeded ebonised grip inlaid with 4 gilt brass strips.
