An 1803 pattern Infantry officer’s sword. The regulation blade sharpened for field service, is etched and gilt with crowned GR, the Royal Arms (1801-1816), martial trophies and floral ornaments, the back edge is etched J.J. Runkel Solingen. The regulation pattern hilt of gilt copper and retains most of its original gilding, the knucklebow with crowned GR, and with a lion’s head pommel. The grip covered with sharkskin and bound with twisted copper wire.
