A heavy Indian iron elephant goad ankus
A heavy Indian iron elephant goad ankus, 18th or early 19th Century. Symmetrically formed from a single piece of iron and decorated with thick silver damascene (koftgari), the tapered hook with curved root terminating in a zoomorphic finial. The octagonal grip with a swollen bud shaped finial, and with a tapered point.
