A Georgian naval officer's dress sword, early 19th Century. The single edged blade cut with a single fuller and retaining some of its original blued and gilt decoration and etched with a crowned fouled anchor together with trophies of arms and foliate spray. The gilt brass hilt retains most of its original gilding, with a chiselled lion's head pommel, crowned fouled anchors in relief on the langets, the knucklebow of round section and the quillon with a ball finial. The polished ivory grip is bound with twisted copper wire.
