A Victorian courtsword
A Victorian courtsword, the blade by Lambert Brown & Clowes, Dublin & London is etched with a crowned VR cypher, crossed flags and foliage. The regulation hilt of gilt brass, the guard applied with a crowned V.R. cypher, the pommel in the form of a crown, the grip bound with twisted copper wire. Bullion dress knot. In its leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts. The hilt and scabbard mounts retain nearly all their original gilding. The makers are recorded from 1846 to 1858.
