An Arab sword Nimcha
An Arab sword Nimcha, early 18th century. The blade with shallow fullers. The iron guard with down turned arms holding a sideguard which incorporates a pierced plate; swollen and shaped finials to knucklebow and quillon. The grip is carved from a large piece of rhinocerous horn and is of conventional form with a fluted grip and fitted with a silver ferrule and pommel cap. The sword is rather worn with good patina.
