A good and unusual George Vth officer's sword

A good and unusual George Vth officer's sword of 1897 Infantry pattern type of the King's Own Scottish Borderers, 1917. The slender blade is etched with the owner's name L.A.Furst K.O.S.B. upon a blued ground, and with extensive foliage. The plated guard is of narrow dimensions closely following the regulation pattern and retains its crimson silk tassel, chequered gripstrap. The grip is covered with fishskin and bound with twisted nickel wire. Contained in its plated dress scabbard.

2nd Lieut. L.A. Furst was commissioned into the KOSB 11.7.1917 and won the M.C. By November 1918 he was attached to the Labour Corps.The blade has certain German characteristics.
