An 1821 pattern cavalry officer's sword
An 1821 pattern cavalry officer's sword of the West Somerset Yeomanry Cavalry built in 1876. The blade by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, No 21351 is etched and polished with crowned VR cypher and regimental initials WSYC amidst foliage, together with the owner's initials A.N.W. The triple bar guard and chequered gripstrap of steel, the grip is covered with fishskin and bound with twisted copper wire. Contained in its steel scabbard with twin hanging rings. The hilt and scabbard of russet finish, the blade retains nearly all of its original mirror polish.
