A rare and unusual 1854 pattern Grenadier Guards officer's picquet weight sword
A rare and unusual 1854 pattern Grenadier Guards officer's picquet weight sword by Henry Wilkinson. The "rapier" blade, No 18595, is etched in the fullers HENRY WILKINSON. PALL MALL. LONDON. The steel guard and chequered gripstrap are of regulation pattern, the grip is covered with black fishskin and bound with twisted silver wire. Contained in its steel dress scabbard. For the hilt see Robson 1996 No 153, Wilkinsons confirm that this sword was built 24/7/1872 for S.N. Hines, and was fitted with a "Toledo Blade".
