A Victorian 1845 pattern Infantry officer's sword of New Zealand, Newton Rifles. The regulation blade by Hobson & Sons, Little Windmill St, London, etched and polished with crowned VR cypher and regimental title within foliage, together with the owner's name W.PLUNKETT COLE within banner beneath his Scottish crest and motto. The brass hilt of regulation pattern, the grip covered with fishskin and bound with twisted brass wire. Contained in its steel dress scabbard.
