Description:
A very fine Victorian 1827 pattern Presentation sword of the Derbyshire Rifle Volunteers. The blade, by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London No 10614, is finely etched and mirror polished with crowned VR cypher, Sudbury 2nd Derbyshire VI Rifle Volunteers amidst foliage, together with Lord Vernon to Robert Booth beneath Lord Vernon's crest and motto. The regulation steel guard and dress scabbard of blued steel, the grip is covered with fishskin and is bound with twisted silver wire. The blade is preserved in almost mint condition and represents Wilkinson's best work. The hilt and scabbard retain much original blued finish.
