Description:
An 1897 pattern Victorian Royal Engineers officer's sword. The blade by Hawkes & Co, Piccadilly, London, is etched and mirror polished with the regimental badge and device amidst scrolls, together with the owner's name E.C. Midwinter within a banner. Regulation steel guard and chequered gripstrap. The grip is covered with fishskin and bound with twisted silver wire. Contained in its steel dress scabbard. The blade retains nearly all its original polish.
