A good 1845 pattern infantry officer's sword. The blade by Phillips, 28 Strand, London, etched and mirror polished with crowned VR amidst scrolling foliage. The gilt brass hilt of regulation pattern, the grip is covered with fishskin and bound with twisted copper wire. Contained in its brass scabbard. The blade and hilt retain nearly all of their original polish and gilding respectively.
