A scarce Victorian 1827 pattern officer's sword
A scarce Victorian 1827 pattern officer's sword of the St George's Rifle Volunteers. The blade by Hobson & Son, 1-3-5 Lexington St, London W, etched with crowned VR, regimental badge and title within scrolling foliage, together with the owner's initials W.H.D. The steel guard and chequered grip with traces of plating, the guard inset with nickel regimental badge. The grip covered with fishskin and bound with twisted German silver wire. Contained in its plated steel dress scabbard.
