A First World War 1897 pattern Infantry officer's sword. The blade, by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London No 52935 (manufactured between 1914-1917) is etched and mirror polished with the crowned Royal Arms, GVR cypher and laurel wreath all amidst scrolling foliage. Regulation steel guard retains traces of plating, chequered gripstrap, the grip is covered with fishskin and is bound with twisted silver wire. Contained in its steel dress scabbard. The blade retains nearly all its original mirror polish, the hilt and scabbard are cleaned.
