Description:
A good Victorian 1828 pattern silver plated basket hilted broadsword c 1850. The broad double edged blade cut with a pair of fullers, and etched with owner's name ALISTER GUNN within a shaped cartouche. The hilt of regulation pattern is thickly plated with silver, with fluted pommel retaining its origianl soft leather liner covered with military cloth and silk fringe. The grip is covered with fishskin and bound with twisted copper wire. Contained in its black leather scabbard with thickly silver plated mounts (a small repair to the leather immediately above the chape)
