An unusual Indian "Khyber Knife"
An unusual Indian "Khyber Knife", probably Afghan. The burnished "T" section blade has a large panel of oriental damascus steel (wootz) let into it at right angles. Silver gripstrap and bolsters pierced and filled with red sealing wax. The two piece grips are of polished white bone. contained in its black ass skin covered scabbard decorated with raised panels, the steel chape with a nicely formed pointed bud shaped finial. the blade retains much of its original burnished bright finish, and the watered section its original polish.
