A Hessian model 1889 cavalry degen. The blade by Weyersburg Kirschbaum is etched "2. Grossh. Hess. Drag. Regt. (Leib-Drag. Regt.) No 24" together with the cypher of Tsar Nicholas II, trophies of arms and foliage. Regulation hilt with the Hessian lion, composition grip. The blade has been deliberately kinked (as illustrated) and the base of the guard has been slightly dented. This sword is preserved with an old coat of dried oil.
