A 6 shot percussion pepperbox revolving pistol by Benjamin Cogswell c 1840-1850. The fluted barrels bear London proofmarks. The frame is engraved with scrolling foliage, and signed on the top plate B. COGSWELL STRAND LONDON. Self cocking action and bar hammer. The rounded walnut grip is finely chequered and numbered 257, and inlaid with a vacant silver escutcheon.
