A continental military sword
A continental military sword, second half of the 19th Century. The blade is stamped ARNA. The regulation brass stirrup hilt has a slightly swollen guard, the grip is of polished horn. Contained in its steel scabbard, the drag is stamped with the maker's initials C&C.L. within a shield. This unidentified sword shares many features with some contemporary American swords. This sword is preserved with an old coat of dried oil, the grip wire is mostly missing.
