Description:
A pair of flintlock holster pistols by W. Ketland & Co fitted with brass barrels, lockplates and furniture, early 19th Century. The swamped octagonal barrels are struck with Tower of London private proofmarks, engraved LONDON and inlaid with silver "spider" foresights. The signed stepped lockplates are fitted with roller bearing frizzen springs. The furniture includes trigger guards with engraved bows and pineapple finials, and vacant shield shaped escutcheons. Figured walnut fullstocks, original wooden ramrods with horn tips, one with a steel worm.
