A Sinhalese silver mounted knife Piha Kaetta from Ceylon
A Sinhalese silver mounted knife Piha Kaetta from Ceylon, probably late 18th century. Bone (ivory?) grips and silver inlaid brass ferules carved and chiselled with stylised plumage. Elaborate foliate engraved and chased silver mounts. The blade is chiselled with flowers and foliage, and overlaid with silver. In its wooden sheath with silver top mount.
