A 19th Century Sudanese Mahdist period sword kaskara
A 19th Century Sudanese Mahdist period sword kaskara. The blade is struck with man-in-the-moon maker's marks and cut with narrow fullers. The steel crosspiece of conventional form and the grip is bound with leather. Contained in its tooled leather scabbard with copper suspension rings and belt (almost detatched). Good age patina.
