A Sinhalese silver mounted knife Piha Kaetta from Ceylon
A Sinhalese silver mounted knife Piha Kaetta from Ceylon, probably late 18th century. Black coral grips and silver inlaid brass ferrules carved and chiselled with stylised plumage. Elaborate foliate engraved and chased silver mounts. Blade chiselled and silver overlaid with flowering foliage, and inlaid with a brass makarra (bird ?). In its wooden sheath with silver top mount.
