A well made close helmet in the Greenwich or Flemish style of c 1560-1570
A well made close helmet in the Greenwich or Flemish style of c 1560-1570, made in the 20th Century. The skull is made in two pieces and joined along the cabled comb, the visor is pierced with two vision slots and the bevor is pierced with vertical breaths on one side. The gorget is made from two plates, with decoratively roped edges. The helmet is fitted with an octagonal lifting peg, a plume socket and two swivel hooks and eyes. Excellent condition, bright finish.
