A Continental Hussar officer's sword c 1750. The blade is cut with two fullers and has a false edge at the tip, and is etched on both sides with a sun, moon, star and a trophy of arms. The brass stirrup hilt is chiselled with trophies of arms in relief including a unicorn or bull escaping from a sack, lion's head pommel, the leather covered grip is bound with twisted copper wire. The blade has been cleaned, the hilt has excellent age patina.
