A good quality Sinhalese silver mounted knife Piha-Kaetta
A good quality Sinhalese silver mounted knife Piha-Kaetta from Ceylon, late 18th Century. The blade is partly chiselled with scrolling foliage and geometric ornament and overlaid with silver. The silver mounted hilt is nicely chiselled with foliage and stylised plumage en-suite with the carved black coral grips. Contained in its sheath with sheet copper and silver covering, the top with silver filigree, the finial embossed with feathers.
