A dagger in the “Romantic” style
A dagger in the “Romantic” style, mid 19th century, broad blade etched and polished with stag and doe beneath tree, hunting trophy, huntsman and foliage. Copper hilt and sheath heavily silver plated, worked in relief with 2 Medusa heads and 4 devils heads amidst poppies, foliage and drapes. The pommel formed as 2 addorsed diabolic faces, the sheath finial as a salamander.
