A good brass barrelled flintlock blunderbuss by Evan Lloyd, early 18th century. The three stage barrel with flared muzzle has a raised turned reinforce and is struck with London Gunmakers’ Company proof marks, the maker’s name E.LLOYD within a horse shoe, and is engraved with foliage. The rounded banana shaped signed lock is engraved with twin line borders and foliage. The brass mounts are engraved with foliage and borders, and the blunderbuss retains its horn tipped wooden ramrod with steel worm. Excellent age patina overall.

Evan Lloyd, apprenticed to Isaac Morris 1700, free of the London Gunmakers’ Company 1708, proof piece 1717, elected Assistant 1727, Gunmaker to the Ordnance 1718-1720, died 1729.
